Data Governance Manager
The Role
12 month Fixed term Contract
Shape trusted, responsible data at the heart of a world‑leading business school
London Business School is seeking a Data Governance Manager to play a pivotal role in embedding strong, practical data governance across the School. This is a high‑impact role at the centre of our Data & AI Strategy, ensuring data is trusted, well‑managed, accessible and governed consistently to support teaching, research, operations, analytics and AI innovation.
You will be responsible for operationalising and embedding the LBS Data Governance Framework across the School. Working closely with senior business and technology stakeholders, you will ensure governance practices are practical, scalable and aligned to strategic priorities.
You will support Data Owners and Data Stewards, embed governance into enterprise data platforms, analytics delivery and AI initiatives, and help ensure that governance enables rather than constrains innovation.
Main Responsibilities
- Lead the maintenance, improvement and adoption of the LBS Data Governance Framework and associated policies, standards and processes.
- Embed data governance practices consistently across data domains, programmes and initiatives.
- Support the onboarding and ongoing effectiveness of Data Owners and Data Stewards.
- Work with business and technology teams to integrate governance into enterprise data platforms, analytics delivery and AI enablement.
- Define and implement governance controls for data quality, metadata, data ownership and lifecycle management.
- Ensure governance processes are measurable, scalable and aligned with the School’s strategic objectives.
- Provide guidance on data privacy, information security and responsible AI principles in collaboration with specialist teams.
- Engage with third party suppliers and partners to ensure governance requirements are met.
- Build strong relationships across the School to drive adoption, capability building and continuous improvement.
Who we are looking for
- Experience developing and implementing data governance frameworks, standards or operating models.
- Strong understanding of data governance concepts, including data ownership, data quality, metadata and lifecycle management.
- Proven ability to work with senior stakeholders and influence without direct authority.
- Experience supporting organisational change, adoption or capability building initiatives.
- Excellent facilitation, communication and relationship building skills.
- Strong organisational and prioritisation skills, with the ability to manage multiple initiatives simultaneously.
- Understanding of data privacy, information security and responsible AI principles.
