Director, Cyber Security

The Role

Lead cyber security at a world-leading business school 

London Business School are seeking an outstanding Director, Cyber Security to lead the School’s cyber security function and drive a step-change in our security posture. 

This is a critical senior leadership role for a cyber security professional who can combine strategic vision, governance expertise and operational leadership to protect the School’s data, systems and services in a complex and high-profile environment. 

You will serve as the primary advocate for the School’s information security posture, working across the organisation to protect data assets, manage risk and lead the Cyber Security Team in implementing a comprehensive information security programme. 

As a member of the Technology Senior Management Team, you will provide strategic leadership across cyber security governance, risk management, compliance and incident response. You will influence leaders across Technology and Data to ensure cyber security is prioritised across the School and will lead a programme of initiatives aligned to the NIST Framework.

Main Responsibilities

  • Act as the primary advocate for information security across the School.
  • Lead and motivate the Cyber Security Team within the Technology Department.
  • Influence technology and data leaders to ensure cyber security is prioritised across LBS.
  • Deliver foundational security processes and services to strengthen the School’s security posture.
  • Support the delivery of secure platforms and services to reduce technical debt and improve confidence in technology.
  • Develop cyber security analytics and response capabilities to enable data-driven, risk-based decision-making.
  • Ensure pragmatic and proportionate protection is applied to LBS data assets and systems according to risk.
  • Develop strong cyber resilience through robust incident response capabilities.
  • Work towards attaining and maintaining ISO27001 certification for London Business School.
  • Influence the work of Project Managers leading cyber security delivery streams, creating a consolidated view of progress.
  • Act as the senior point of escalation for cyber security incidents.
  • Report regularly to the Audit and Risk Committee on the health and progress of the School’s cyber security posture.
  • Manage external partners to ensure demonstrable progress and improvement.
  • Act as the escalation route for emerging programme risks and issues to the CDIO.

Who we are looking for

  • Proven experience leading a cyber security function in a medium to large organisation.
  • Strong understanding of Governance, Risk and Compliance (GRC) in relation to information security.
  • Track record of developing and implementing information security strategies and programmes.
  • Experience managing ISO27001 compliance and working within regulatory frameworks.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate complex information clearly and influence stakeholders at all levels.
  • Experience building,motivatingand leading delivery teams in a collaborative and inclusive working environment.
  • Ability to influence and persuade others where there is no direct reporting line.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to present complex information clearly and effectively to a range of audiences.
  • Strong ability to build positive working relationships and influence across a wide stakeholder base.

At London Business School, we support Smart Working - a hybrid approach designed to help you achieve a healthy work-life balance while delivering the best outcomes for your role and the needs of our customers. All roles require a minimum of two days on campus each week to foster a vibrant, collaborative community. 

For this role specifically, you will be expected to be on campus 2 days per week. 

We operate with ‘core hours’ – 10:00-15:00 – to maximise opportunities for connection and collaboration across teams during the working day. Outside of these hours, you may still be required for meetings or collaboration based on your role and customer needs. Additionally, we offer Protected Time - a flexible, one-hour slot, within the working week dedicated to your learning and development, wellbeing, or focused, quiet work
