Associate Director, Finance

The Role

London Business School require an Associate Director, Finance to join us on a permanent basis. As the Associate Director, Finance, you will oversee the management of financial accounting, reporting, tax and financial services for research grants and fundraising. You will ensure compliance with tax and regulatory matters, provide technical accounting advice, manage the balance sheet, and oversee audits and financial reporting. Your role will include managing investments and budgets, supporting day-to-day financial operations, and leading a team to deliver high-quality financial outcomes.

Main Responsibilities

  • Ensure compliance with tax matters and regulatory requirements.
  • Provide analysis and advice on technical accounting and tax matters.
  • Manage financial aspects of research funding and fundraising.
  • Produce accurate financial reports and regulatory returns.
  • Oversee audits and liaise with internal and external auditors.
  • Maintain financial policies and procedures for robust internal control.
  • Monitor, budget, and forecast financial central costs.
  • Manage endowment investments and prepare reports for stakeholders.
  • Lead, motivate, and develop the finance team.

Who we are looking for

  • Fully qualified accountant with experience in technical accounting roles within medium to large entities.
  • Strong communication, influencing, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Experience managing internal relationships and liaising with external auditors.
  • Demonstrated experience in building and developing successful teams.
  • Subject matter expertise in applicable legislation, policies, or systems.
  • Ability to navigate change successfully in dynamic environments.
  • Proven ability to organise complex tasks efficiently and deliver high-quality outputs.
  • Strong attention to detail and quality assurance across complex tasks.

For this role specifically, you will be expected to be on campus 2 days per week.

We operate with ‘core hours’ – 10:00-15:00 – to maximise opportunities for connection and collaboration across teams during the working day. Outside of these hours, you may still be required for meetings or collaboration based on your role and customer needs. Additionally, we offer Protected Time - a flexible, one-hour slot, within the working week dedicated to your learning and development, wellbeing, or focused, quiet work
