Alumni Volunteer Lead

The Role

Play a visible role in strengthening one of the world’s most influential alumni communities

London Business School require an Alumni Volunteer Lead to join us on a permanent basis.

As Alumni Volunteers Lead, you will be responsible for the strategic development, management and stewardship of key volunteer networks across the School. You will build and maintain strong relationships with our most active volunteers—such as Alumni Council members, Alumni Class Volunteers, Alumni Club Leaders and Regional Advisory Boards—and ensure volunteers feel valued, supported and connected to the School’s goals.

Leading a small team, you will deliver an overarching programme of activity for the volunteer network, using a data-driven and stakeholder-led approach to strengthen volunteer engagement, retention and growth.

Main Responsibilities

  • Lead the strategy and delivery of LBS’s alumni volunteer programme, aligned with Advancement and School priorities.
  • Build and steward strong relationships with senior alumni volunteers across multiple networks and geographies.
  • Develop and implement plans to increase volunteer engagement, retention and recruitment, ensuring mutually beneficial outcomes.
  • Partner closely with colleagues across Advancement and the wider School to connect volunteers to meaningful opportunities and initiatives.
  • Use insight and data to evaluate activity, identify trends, and continuously improve the volunteer experience.
  • Line manage and develop a team of 3, creating a supportive, high-performing and collaborative environment.
  • Represent the volunteer programme internally and externally, raising awareness of volunteer impact and contribution.

Who we are looking for

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build trusted relationships at senior level.
  • Strong capability in negotiation, networking and influencing.
  • Experience in a relationship-based environment (e.g., alumni engagement, membership organisations, stakeholder management, customer/client engagement, volunteering programmes).
  • A strategic mindset—able to scan the horizon, understand best practice, and translate this into practical plans.
  • Proven financial management and budget experience.
  • Experience leading a team in a senior role (or strong evidence of leadership capability)
